EI: How It Works

The Four Core Data Points

Edu-Intelligence brings together four integrated data sources to give school and Trust leaders clear, evidence-based insights that drive meaningful, data-driven improvement.

A Note on Workforce & HR Data

Edu-Intelligence collects staff, student and parent data directly from your MIS (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom).
Because HR information is not consistently stored within the MIS for every school or Trust, any HR-related insights in Edu-Intelligence will only work if your MIS already contains that HR data.

Some organisations store key HR records (such as performance management, conduct, appraisals, HR casework) in separate HR systems. These systems are not currently connected to Edu-Intelligence.

However, full integration with HR systems is on our product roadmap for 2026.
Once released, this will allow seamless HR data ingestion from HR platforms as well as MIS systems.

Quality In = Quality Out

Every organisation collects data differently. Because of this, Edu-Intelligence’s insights rely heavily on the quality, consistency, and completeness of the data you provide.

Our AI operates on a simple principle: Quality In Equals Quality Out.
High-quality, consistent data leads to accurate and actionable insight. Poor or incomplete data limits the precision and depth of recommendations.

1. MIS Data

Your management information system is the core operational data source for Edu-Intelligence.

What It Is

Live, structured data pulled directly from systems such as SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom.

Please note that assessment and attainment data is not yet pulled through; however, we anticipate this to be available early 2026.

What It Includes

  • Student data - SEND, EAL, FSM, Pupil Premium, etc

  • Staff profiles

  • Behaviour and achievements

  • Year groups, classes, departments and faculties

  • Attendance

  • Staff absence and workforce data that exists within your MIS

* Critical HR Data Note

Edu-Intelligence can only analyse HR-related workforce indicators (e.g., absence patterns, turnover trends, staffing profiles) if this information is recorded in your MIS.
If your organisation stores HR data in a dedicated HR platform, this information will not appear in Edu-Intelligence until our HR-system integrations launch in 2026.

Why It Matters

MIS data provides the measurable outcomes that the AI uses as baselines—for example:

  • “Persistent absence rate is X%”

  • “Staff churn is Y%”

2. Stakeholder Feedback (In-Platform Surveys)

Adds critical qualitative insight to support your quantitative MIS data.

What It Is

Surveys inside platform (students, staff, parents).

What It Provides

  • Insight into morale, perception, and culture

  • Context for explaining trends seen in MIS data

Why It Matters

This connects observed outcomes in your MIS (e.g., rising absence, falling attainment) with the underlying reasons (e.g., morale issues, poor communication, leadership engagement).

3. Uploaded Documents (Policies, Strategy, Audits)

Shows the system what improvement work you intend to deliver.

What It Is

Documents such as strategy plans, policies, SEFs, audits, and improvement frameworks uploaded into the platform.

What It Provides

Clear evidence of your priorities, actions, and investment decisions.

Why It Matters

The AI uses these documents to understand:

  • What action you’re taking

  • What initiatives began when

  • How these actions relate to your MIS and survey outcomes

  • Which strategies are most effective

4. External Trusted Sources (DfE, NHS, Ofsted, etc.)

Ensures your insights are grounded in credible, authoritative external data.

What It Is

Edu-Intelligence draws on trusted, authoritative datasets and guidance from public and sector organisations (e.g., DfE, NHS, Ofsted).

What It Provides

  • Guidance and recommendations that reflect current best practice

  • Up-to-date sector standards and quality expectations

  • Verified insights that are reliable and actionable

Why It Matters

AI can sometimes produce outdated or misleading information. By relying on high-quality, vetted sources, Edu-Intelligence ensures that all AI-generated insights are trustworthy, relevant, and quality-assured—supporting evidence-based decision-making across your school or Trust.

Bringing Everything Together

By combining MIS data, stakeholder feedback, uploaded strategy documents, and trusted external sources, Edu-Intelligence delivers comprehensive, reliable, and actionable intelligence—helping you drive improvement with greater clarity and less guesswork.

And coming in 2026, MIS data will be enhanced with direct HR-system integrations, enabling an even richer and more accurate understanding of your workforce.
